Meh. I did not get my full 8 hours of beauty rest last night (yeah, some of us really need this you know hah) because I only got to bed after midnight, so today may see me struggling to keep my eyes open … bring on the coffee please!
Why was I up so late?
Well … don’t faint (!) … I went out again!!
Yessireeeee 😀
Chris organized a little get together with some of his Cape Town blogger pals at a place called “Neighbourhood” in Long Street (super venue, BTW). So Sir G and I went along to meet up with some new peeps and to reacquaint ourselves with some now-getting-familiar-with peeps (helloooo David and Peter!) It was very cool to FINALLY meet my dragon friend, Wogan May, along with Christopher John Combrink, Rox and a few others (I’m shocking with names, please forgive me if I’ve left you out.)
We had a bite to eat there – Sir G and I both ordered the Cajun Calamari dish – and the food was pretty good. Other people ordered burgers and steak rolls and everyone seemed pretty happy with their dinner. Neighbourhood serves the FUNKIEST chips ever, called “curly fries” … seriously long and yeah, *curly* chips hehehe 🙂
It was a cool evening all in all – so nice to get out again =) And it was a lovely surprise to run into @Cluckhoff who was there with her friends for a poker evening. I was able to repay her the dosh she lent us when Sir G and I found ourselves penniless at @FeistyFemale’s birthday party last week.
There was one teeny little glitch in the evening … *cough* … my bra decided to come unhitched! OMG, I felt the bloody strap undo itself and panicked! I whispered to Sir G: “Er, I need your help please.” He looked seriously worried but when he heard what the problem was, he had to stifle peals of hysterical laughter! So he, ummm, “shielded” me all the way to a space in the venue that was unoccupied (which happened to be the pool room), hiked up my top and re-attached the offending strap! I was dying WAH! Imagine if somebody had decided to play a game of pool right then???? Anyway, LUCKILY he got it all sorted for me before anyone could walk in and catch us in a VERY compromising position *whew*!!
So … cow_grrrl is now getting out and about quite a bit these days hey? Thanks for organizing last night Chris 😀
Mmk, I need to make myself a big-ass cup of strong coffee and put my head down – 2 deadlines to meet today and a bunch of admin stuffs.
*yawn*
Have a rocking Friday everyone!
And to Son#1 – good luck with your Science exam today my boy xxx

Oh dear …
Sir G and I headed off last night to a little restaurant called Yum, in Vredehoek, to hook up with FeistyFemale and some other wonderful people to celebrate her big two-five birthday.
Lekka!
And it was … for a while. We got there, greeted the gorgeous Bev (looking quite spectacular in her turquoise party dress), handed over some flowers and a pressie, said our hallo’s to everyone and promptly ordered a beer.
So far so good …
More lovely people arrived …yakkity yak yak, chat about this, chinwag about that.
Take a little break, step back from the activity for a minute, to regroup and *BOOM*, it hits me! I’ve left my purse at home … AAAAAARGH!!! Dammit, I NEVER do that. And Sir G says: “Not to worry, I’ve got my wallet here and I’ve got cash, so we’re cool!”
*whew*
More attempts to mingle, while dodging Mr Golding and that camera again!
Glasses are empty, time for another round, and off Sir G goes to place an order at the bar.
And back Sir G comes to inform me that he, errrr, doesn’t want to alarm me, he’s not quite sure what to do, but he doesn’t seem to have his wallet on him either!
YIKES!
How embarrassing! Seriously, we were dying … not a penny between us, ERK. Luckily and thank goodness, Cluckhoff came to our rescue and lent us some moola. (Thank you xxx)
*whew* again.
And then … disaster.
Sir G became *convinced* that he’d brought his wallet with him – he was SURE he’d put it in one of his jacket pockets before we left – and thought it may have dropped out somewhere between the car and the restaurant. And The Hunt began. Waiters, car guards, everyone pitched in to look for the missing wallet. It was nowhere to be found. We phoned home to ask the boys to see if was perhaps lying around there, but no luck!
I was really hoping that the wallet was here at home somewhere, that the boys had just missed seeing it and that we’d spot it when we got back – teenage boys are not renowned for being able to “find stuff”, right?
But we never found it 🙁
His jacket was hanging over a chair unattended for a while at the restaurant and the only (rather horrible) explanation is that somebody helped themselves to his wallet.
So poor Sir G has now lost about 900 ronds, his driver’s license, and his bank and gym cards and of course it’s a huge schlep to sort everything out. He’s not a happy Mullet …
And I’m not exactly a ray of sunshine myself today. Hrmph. Feeling way too tired and grouchy for people. I’m just going to pop in my ear thumps, put my head down and gun it … so much wwwork!
Later my friends.

HAH! You didn’t *really* think you were going learn that from me, did you?
Yours truly HAS been living as a hermit and firmly planted under a rock for the last 4 years you know! In fact, I highly recommend that to learn the fine art of working a room, you watch me at any event or gathering and do the exact opposite 😀
Last night’s Cape Town 27 Dinner at The Wild Fig was brilliant though. I’m SO glad I went (thank you Mom and JOC for being on Kid Duty so that I could attend. And for doing the dishes!!) Wow – so many brilliant and interesting people there … about a 100 I think. I so wish I could have connected up with a whole lot more folk, but I’ve yet to kick the old shyness habit hehehe …
Anyway, despite my MONSTROUS headache, shattered nerves and slight apprehension about going back to “our restaurant”, I still managed to have a good time and it was very cool to put faces to a lot of the names I’ve become familiar with over the last couple of months. What a brilliant bunch of inspiring people! I’m definitely signing up for the next one and I’m going to make a determined effort to shove my introvert self out of my comfort zone and mingle a bit more. Gulp.
Big thank you to Dave Duarte and Max Kaizen for organizing 🙂
[ I *tried* to stay out of Brandon Golding and his big ass camera’s way, but I think he still managed to “get me”. Urgh. ]
P.S. Thanks to those of you who “came out” to me with regard to lurking here. Luvvit! You know who you are 😀
And on a different note:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to FeistyFemale!!! A quarter of a century young today 🙂
Have a rocking day and we’ll see you later for big birthday celebrations Bev xxx

Monday …
Lots to do, lots to do!
One thing I’m not looking forward to later is a meeting with the headmaster at Son#2’s school. Why do I always feel like *I’m* the one who’s in shit for something when I get summoned to see a headmaster? Bah.
Yeah, there was a bit of an “incident” on Friday and now I have to go in this afternoon and sort it out with them … I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that this does NOT turn into the crap that we went through with Son#1. Seriously, I’ve had enough of it!!
Anyway, on a MUCH better note … tonight is the 27 Dinner here in Cape Town. I’m looking forward to it but at the same time I’m feeling slightly uneasy about it being held at a restaurant that the X and I used to regularly frequent. Hmmm … it’ll be strange going back there, but it’s going to be cool to hook up with some awesome people so I’ll just try to keep that “stuff” out of my head tonight. Should be fun – I’m told these events are pretty good 🙂 This is my first ever 27 Dinner YAY me!! I just hope Mr Golding keeps his big fat camera lens away from me!! Hah. AND I hope that my bloody head doesn’t flare up on me … that would be the pits.
Well my friends, it’s Monday – my Inbox has been completely trashed over the weekend and I need to get stuck into it.
I had a pretty cool weekend though. The weather was just awesome here. And Liverpool beat Chelsea, at The Bridge too nogal! w00t w00t 😀
Signs of summerness in my garden:

No, I did NOT get around to sorting out the boxes and stuff, nor did I set up the new office space.
You’re surprised? Hehe … I *am* the Queen of Procrastination you know!

WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!
I’m SO excited 😀
Mmk, if you don’t know me yet, there’s one thing I never do and that’s take a break. I don’t get out much (working from home compounds this) and I haven’t had a weekend away since January … Yeah, I’m always saying I need to get away for a while but it just never seems to happen.
Anyhoo, I have *very* kindly been invited to go and spend a weekend with Cath in Durban!! Yip, I am going to go and invade the abode formerly known as The Shath!!!
STOKED! I’ve never been to Durbs before and I’ve never met Cath before either, so this is going to be a HUGE adventure for me 🙂
Cath – THANK YOU for the invite!!! I’m sooooo looking forward to it (and your legendary Pina Coladas.) Hope to hook up with SheBee too!
See you next month!

Mmk, I need your help please 🙂
So I’ve got my old laptop back up and running, with an eye to taking it out and about one of these days so I can go sit in coffee shops and restaurants and the like … I’m thinking that being mobile and being able to work anywhere will get me out the house a bit more and all the good things that go along with that!
Now then … what’s the best way for me to connect to the interwebz while I’m out and about?
I don’t want to be tied into any monthly contracts because this will all happen as and when I feel like it. There may be times where I’m out every day and there may be times when I’m chained to my desk. I really don’t know!
Also, I shall be doing the same thing with another 2 of our laptops here …
So, what’s your advice?
