At long frigging last!! Miss Boats has managed to get hold of a company to come and sort out this ridiculous driveway gate saga … the damn thing was seriously cooked!!
Anyway, it turns out that the reason for all its nonsense – opening by itself, not opening, not closing, getting stuck, etc – was because there was a nest of geckos in the motor!! Shame, poor things. So we’ve chucked in a load of mothballs to keep them away and hopefully that will be the end of the gate crap! So there’s a tip for you – if your automatic gate is playing up, check for geckos (or ants!).
The same company is also sorting out the problem of the doorbell not ringing through to the office so I don’t have to keep answering it here in the house. At last … ringing doorbells or telephones and me do NOT get along well.
Speaking of ringing telephones, I got a call on my cell last night. Normally I NEVER answer my phone (everyone knows to sms me if they want to get hold of me), especially if the number comes up as “private”. But something made me take that particular call. It was the clinic, telling me that Son#1 was having an asthma problem and could I please organize a pump for him!
So I’ve just been to drop off the pump and I also took in a bag of “eat treats” for him too – some fruit juice and biscuits and stuff. I thought I was trying my luck with that one, but they were fine with it and said they’d pass it on =) They also told me that he’s doing ok!! They said he was looking comfortable, getting to know everyone and settling in really well. “And what a polite boy he is!” Hehe.
*grin* So I’m feeling 1000% better after hearing that. YAAAY!!
Big bear hugs and sloppy wet kisses, my boy … xxx
On a another note, our website move that started yesterday is ALMOST sorted … hopefully the DNS transfer is over and done with pronto!
And what an absolutely STUNNING day it is in Cape Town today! Just gorjis …
Right, I’ve lost 2 days of regular work now so I’ve got tons to catch up on. I’d better get to it before Miss Boats fires me again =)
*cranks up iTunes … can’t actually decide what to listen to …guess it’ll be my old favourite – Jeff Buckley is ALWAYS a good choice, I reckon*

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, at 8am, I am taking Son#1 to check into a clinic for a 4-week in-patient treatment programme.
The clinic is an adolescent unit (the only one in the country), dealing specifically with young adults in crisis. They provide therapeutic treatment for all sorts of issues from anxiety and depression to eating disorders to sexual and substance abuse.
As you know by now, Son#1 has recently hit an all-time low and he’s been struggling to cope with life. He is overwhelmed with emotional trauma right now and despite putting up a very brave front, he just can’t deal with everything on his own.
I am so relieved that my beautiful boy is at last going to get the treatment and therapy he so desperately needs. He has suppressed so much over the years and all his anger, frustration and pain that he’s carrying needs to be addressed, very urgently.
It’s taken just over a week to arrange everything and a lot of gentle persuasion and encouragement on my part to reassure him that this is the right thing for him, that he does need help and that a live-in facility (recommended by his new psychiatrist) will accelerate the treatment process so that he can get better as quickly as possible.
I’ve also had to meet mild opposition from his father, who wonders if this is all necessary and doesn’t really see the point. I was expecting that. But, thankfully, he has bought in to the idea now, albeit with some hesitation and he has also indicated that he is willing to attend the parent support sessions with me on Fridays. That’s good news, because he definitely needs to become more involved.
So, that’s where we are right now … gearing up for the month ahead. I’m not tackling any work today – I’ve re-arranged my schedule so that I can be with my boy and get him ready for tomorrow …when he wakes up =)
He’s going to be fine. This is the best thing for him and I am so proud of him for seeing that.
To those of you who know me and are finding out about this for the first time, I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. This was only finalized a couple of days ago and I did not want to say anything until I was 100% sure that it was going to happen. I also wanted to check with Son#1 first that he would have no objections to me saying anything, and he doesn’t …
Onwards and upwards

6.30am: Alarm gets smacked on the head … this is where I’ve dragged myself out of.
It’s still dark outside and I’m having a good grumble about having to get up, as usual =)

Stumble through to the kitchen to make school lunch for Son#1. Attempt to rouse him …

Back to bed to check what’s happening on Facebook and in Twitterville. Cuddle bunny wants love.

Go back to haul Son#1 out of bed. It’s 7.15am now … back to bed to wait for the bathroom.
Cuddle bunny immediately hops on top of me again.
My other Burmese baby joins in the morning love session =) Sweet hey?

7.45am: bathroom is finally free. Son#1 is off to school and I can jump into the tub.
There’s no light in the bathroom, hence the candle!

Back in my room, shoot … I STILL haven’t sorted out that box!

Stare blankly at my cupboard.
Complain to the universe that I have “absolutely NOTHING to wear!”

Eventually decide on something …

Quick check in the mirror to make sure I haven’t put my bra on over my top or something
(yes, I’ve done that before wahaha!)
Urgh … more boxes that need to be sorted …

8.30am: And this is the pooh part – I now have to spend an AGE drying my hair!

Time for the war paint *sigh* what a pain in the bum to have to do this every day.

Oh dear … Sir G has pulled up outside … I must be running late … AGAIN!

SHIT!!

Mmk, I’m done with all the primping and preening – time to work …

Check out my To Do List *freak out*

Feeling a tad fluey – gonna have to take some of this …

Browse through my iTunes library, decide to kick the day off with some 3 Doors Down.
And off we go!!
That’s my morning so far =)
Jul 12, 2008 | Life at Home
I think it’s safe to say that my life at the moment is an absolute shambles.
I am busy updating my To Do List and so far I’ve filled up 2 A4 pages of (mostly personal) “stuff” I need to take care of … and I ain’t done yet! Why does the bloody thing only ever seem to get longer??
Some of these tasks are just a few words long and yet they represent hours, if not days of effort to complete. And this is aside from all the stuff I need to do on a daily basis just to keep things ticking over. It’s all important too – some of it is even critical – I can’t trim the list down, there’s nothing that I can scrap, it all just HAS to be done. And soon. How on earth am I going to manage?
It’s a bit overwhelming. Actually, it’s downright DAUNTING! Argh!
I’m not averse to asking for help and I’ll certainly do that where I can, but the problem is that most of these tasks are things that only I can deal with …
Hoo boy. Before my life was turned upside down a few years ago, I used to be Miss Organised, now I feel like things are totally out of control and it’s going to take a mammoth effort on my part to sort through it all and get back on top of everything. It is my own fault though, I can’t blame anyone else for this pickle … I’ve always been a chronic procrastinator and I’ve also had my head in the sand for a while now, avoiding tasks that I haven’t had the mental and physical energy to face. So now I’m looking up at a personal Mount Everest and wondering how I am ever going to get to the top. Stressing out a bit =(
Do you ever feel like this? How do you deal with it?

The various weather forecasts I’ve had a look at all differ in the exact expected temperatures for the next couple of days, but they all agree on one thing – its going to be #&%^ cold!!
So I’m gonna be camped out right here, in front of the fire …

Doesn’t that look lovely?
Ok, so just *try* to imagine that the camera on my new little phone DOESN’T completely suck hehe …
I have a couple of DVDs to watch tonight – Juno and Jumper. I’ve heard that Juno is excellent, so I’m looking forward to that.
Tomorrow have a bit of coding to do, so that’ll keep my in front of my computer for a few hours and then I also have some papers to shuffle and accounts to sort out. Urgh, admin blows.
Apart from that, there’s cricket on YAAAY! It’s a 5 day test with South Africa vs England from Lords. We aren’t doing too well after wining the toss and electing to field first – England declared on 593/8 at the end of day 2 – but hopefully tomorrow will see us get off to a solid batting start so we can pile on the runs *fingers crossed*. We are REALLY going to have to bat a whole lot better than we bowled!! I have a sneaky suspicion that it may all end in a draw.
Oh, just by the by … I was trying to keep an eye on the match today while working, and it proved to be rather tiring and annoying having to jump up and check the action out on tv every few minutes, so I found a much better way of tracking the score. Online. This, after I asked if anyone knew of a good website that churned out live scores and was promptly reprimanded by SheBee and told to JFGI!! wahaha!! So I did =)
If you also want to track the cricket online, here’s the site I found. It’s pretty good, not too far behind the live action and the running commentary is quite entertaining too:
“Steyn to Sidebottom, no run, hah! Sidebottom has had enough of being peppered by Steyn and tries to swat a bouncer but only takes his eyes off the ball and misses, which has Steyn amused”
“Harris to Broad, OUT, timber! Broad goes for a meaty whip across the line, rather ugly, looking to work a full and flat delivery to midwicket but the ball turns ever so slightly and disturbs the furniture”
And then, sometime over the next 2 days, I’ll have to cut Son#1’s hair for school (he won’t let anyone else cut it) and psyche myself up for The Dreaded Weekly Grocery Shop … hoo boy!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
