And it’s STILL pissing down outside!
This is some seriaaaas weather we’re having here in the Cape … non-stop wild storming for 7 days and near-Arctic temperatures. Winter is not my season anyway, so you can just imagine how much I’m loving this. Not.
Two days ago my garden was a big mooshy mess, now it’s totally flooded! And my swimming pool looks like it’s on the verge of overflowing too. Yikes.
Worst of all, I have MORE leaks in my roof, and the drips are coming down a lot faster and harder than before. I’ve called the roofing chaps again this morning, left YET ANOTHER MESSAGE … Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Well, I’ve had a very late start to the day – I just couldn’t get out of bed this morning! Cold + Dark + Wet + Windy + Too Early + Head Pain + Sleeping Pill Hangover = Stay Under The Covers Girl.
Anyway, enough griping =) Today I have a stupid amount of work to do, so I’d better get started *yawn*. I think I’ll have to end my coffee drought just now and give in to a big caffeine fix.

And it’s a wet one!!
Jeesh … it’s been raining non stop in Cape Town for days now and we’ve had some nasty storm activity in that time too – real wild and woolly weather!
I contacted my Dad this morning to see if he was ok. He lives in a caravan and I get really worried about him when the weather’s this bad. Luckily, all is cool with him – no more lightening strikes this time thank goodness. A short while ago, in another bad storm, some of his equipment got fried!!
Here at home, the animals have been going mental with all the thunder and lightening. Shame, poor things …
And my garden is now one big mooshy mess. Urgh.

I’ve got a leak in my roof too, which is baaaaaaad news. I had the same thing last year and it got so bad, there was so much water damage, I had to have my ceilings replaced and fixed up. I’ve been trying to get hold of the roofing company for 2 weeks now to come back and sort out the leak but they just never return my calls. Dammit.
And now I’ve also got water seeping through my window frames too. *Sigh* … it never ends does it?

I have no idea who to call about the windows – any ideas?

Mmk, I don’t know WHAT came over me last night, but I had a very rare and completely out-of-character Domestic Urge.
Sir G was completely knackered last night after work (we had both worked till midnight the night before and didn’t get enough sleep) and he didn’t want to drive all the way home, so I said he could crash here. Of course, he didn’t have clean clothes so I actually offered to do a load of laundry for him??!!
And then I clicked that there wasn’t any food in the house, so I dashed out to the shop at about 7pm to grab something for us to eat and lawd knows why but I decided what the hell, I’m here, I may as well do The Dreaded Weekly Grocery Shop!
So I did … and let me tell you, shopping on a Tuesday night is the bomb! No fights for parking, no-one getting in my way while I’m whizzing around the aisles (I didn’t have to ram my trolley into anyone’s bum for a change wahah!), no queues at the check out … bliss =)
I got home, unloaded the bags, unpacked everything, spotted the sink of dirty dishes and … wait for it … I washed up! Seriously.
Then I even made dinner – ok so I just warmed up the meals in the microwave, but I don’t cook (if you read the About Me page, you’ll know why).
3 Of my domestic pet hates killed in one night and all in record breaking time too! Bizarreness.
Oh, BTW, do NOT call me Martha Stewart! Apart from the fact that I am the world’s greatest domestic un-goddess, I really can’t stand the woman – she’s so not likeable, completely anal and super creepy … Brrrrgh.

Ze gate. She ees feexed =)
Well, almost … silly thing is still displaying a mind of its own and opening all by itself for some reason, but at least it OPENS and I can now leave the damn house!!!
We worked late last night and I was MORE than happy to volunteer for the grub run at about 8pm, as dark and cold as it was – I just needed to venture off the property, you know what I mean? So I went to that “fast food” place down the road, McDonalds.
Fast food my ass! It took about 30 minutes for the chick who was serving me to put my order together. She decided to start with the chips, so of course they stood around on the counter for an age before she got around to sorting out the rest of the order. They got ice cold and I had to ask her to please replace them with an edible batch. Cold, rubbery french fries totally suck. I was one of only 3 people she served in that half hour. Jeesh, worse than a stoned tortoise, I tell you!
Anyway, today is yet another screamingly busy day in the trenches for me, so best I get back to it.
Later everyone, have a rocking Tuesday xxx

Just. Yesterday was touch and go though ….
Sir G managed to squeeze his car out of the driveway yesterday and went off to have a family lunch at Lanzerac. I was left here to starve and freeze! Hrmph. He then sent me messages about how much sushi and smoked salmon he was consuming. Bastard.
I was just about ready to concede my sorry self to hypothermia and starvation. (Jeeesh, is it just me or this Cape winter a whole lot colder than usual??) Luckily, he arrived back here just in the nick of time with a load of wood and some of his dad’s yummy home-made curry. Whew, close one.
How was that Euro 2008 final last night?! Awesome game. I’m so glad it turned out to be such a good match and of course, the fact that my boy Torres scored just totally made it for me =)
So the gate guys came this morning to take the gate away for repairs. They say they’ll have it back and sorted before the end of the day. Holding thumbs … I haven’t been able to leave the house for nearly a week now and I’m seriously claustrophobic!

Literally. No jokes.
As a result of the Driveway Drama the gate does not open far enough for me to get my car out, it only opens about half way and that only by the brute force of at least 2 strong men grunting and groaning and sweating to push it a few centimeters at a time. POOOOOESH!
Oh dear, lucky I don’t have any plans this weekend. Just as well – I’m such a social butterfly you know, I normally have heaps of engagements booked in my calendar. Not.
Actually, the 27Dinner is happening in Cape Town tonight at The Wild Fig (love that restaurant) and it would have been pretty cool to go to that and meet some of the folks I’ve hooked up with over the interwebs, but I didn’t get my name down on their limited-to-50-places guest list in time, so I’m gonna have to miss out. It’s ok though – my shy self doesn’t want to be there anyway =)
Guess who’s not going to have to go and do The Dreaded Weekly Grocery Shop though!? YES!! At least one good thing hey?
So …. What to do?
Well, I have wood for the fireplace, I have an Xbox and plenty of games, I have Sir G, I have a few cold ones in the fridge, and I have the Mr Delivery book … what more does a girl need?
Hopefully I survive till Monday wahaha!
Have a FABULOUS weekend everyone … later xx
