SANCCOB needs your help

SANCCOB has made history by successfully staging a mammoth operation to move 129 oiled African penguins from Luderitz in Namibia to their centre in Cape Town.

On Tuesday afternoon, 21 April, SANCCOB admitted 129 dusty and tired African penguins to our centre in Cape Town after they had endured a grueling 20 hour road trip that spanned 1 300 kilometers.

On hand to welcome the weary band of travelers were SANCCOB veterinarian, Dr. Tertius Gous, and an experienced  team of staff members and volunteers, who immediately began the intensive rehabilitation process.

This sort of rescue doesn’t come cheap and SANCCOB is asking all lovers of the African penguin (listed ‘vulnerable’ to extinction in the red data list) to dig deep into their pockets to help us to pay for the rehabilitation of these 129 plucky penguins.

The cost of the rescue is estimated to cost in the region of R100 000.

Mah 15 minutes of fame at last!

Yip, some kind soul submitted my Twitter background to the Twitter Backgrounds Gallery 😀

See top right? That’s MEEEEEE!

And, um, you can pay the site a visit and vote for me. Just saying 🙂

Big thanks to everyone who’s already done this – you are AWESOME! Mwah xxx

Cool eh?

My ego is happeeez 😀

And here’s what it looks like IRL, or so to speak …

2 Years ago today

Today is the 2nd anniversary of my divorce.

Two years.

According to all the “experts”, I’m now supposed to be over it all. Apparently it takes 2 years from the date of legal finalization to recover from this kind of trauma.

Is that true in my case? I have to admit that it’s probably not.

Because I’m still pissed.

Not all the time mind you. No, I think I’ve come a long way from where I was 2 years ago – totally broken, in every way possible. Seriously, I couldn’t function. I’ve written a lot here about how I felt and how I was trying to deal with that excruciating pain and raging anger, so I won’t go into all of that again right now.

But in all honesty, I know I still have a lot to deal with. I still have some way to go before I can think about that horrific experience and how that huge, revolting ordeal has affected me, my present situation and the kids, and not feel angry about it.

Is that even a realistic possibility? I don’t know. But I guess I have to continue to aim for that.

Onwards and upwards

Feeling a bit pissy today

But its got squat to do with anyone else. Promise.

You know, I honestly think that in *my* case, PMS stands for POST Menstrual Syndrome! For goodness’ sake, what’s with all the grouchiness AFTER the Great Flood?

I think my body’s a bit wonky with all this hormone crap and I wouldn’t be surprised if I discovered that I somehow got a double dose in the womb … like I ran around to join the back of the queue again after I got my rations. Idiot.

And, even more freaking idiotic – I COMPLETELY undid all my hard work at gym yesterday by eating ice cream 🙁 No, not just one, and no, not even two. Hells, not even three. Nope, I had to go and devour FOUR of the farking things. I hate my relationship with food, it totally sucks. Yeah, yeah, yeah … newsflash for those of you who don’t know yet: I am a binge eater. I have a problem with food. It’s a nasteh problem that found its awful way into my life a couple of years ago. (It’s all emotional, related to swallowing crap feelings and sabotaging myself … stuff that I still need to deal with.) So I’m feeling even more horrid about myself right now. Hrmph!

Anyhoo … ONE good thing about today … my cleaning lady is back.

I can finally stop stressing about trying to be Superwoman (while failing miserably at it) and reclaim my title as Domestic Un-Goddess. Aaaah … much better!

Laterz people xxx

PS Is it just me or are there more damn flies around than normal?

I nabbed the Nerdies 09!

Yours truly has the honour of winning the grrrly half of the Nerdies 09, created by our very own SheBee-Liciousness!

Thanks for voting for me everyone – I had some stiff competition (honestly thought that Heidi’s TwitGirl persona was going to pip me at the post hehe) and I’m stoked this cow_grrrl could rope in the title before age starts to *really* count against me wahaha! And to be acknowledged as a nerd is just the awesomest … yip, I’m swearious 😀

Congrats to Andre van Rooyen for winning the dude half!

There were some awesome prizes up for grabs too, so thank you to the generous and kind sponsors.

What I’m also REALLY pleased about is that this all evolved into a charity auction as well, so apart from the fun we all had, some needy kids are actually going to benefit too. That’s very cool hey? And I think my Dad has to take the credit for getting THAT all going!

What an excellent way to start 2009 … YEEHAAA!

My son. The model.

Hah! It’s not just me being the biased mom who thinks that Son#1 is beautiful …

Mmk, yes, both my boys are gorgeous:
Son#2 has the face of an angel and Son#1 is just plain HAWT!

Son#1 has been scouted by a modeling agency 😀

And he’s amped! I’m so stoked for him – this could be really good, in so many ways.

So now we have to organise head shots …

This is all brand new to me – what does it involve? Anyone know?
