The weekend ahead

Work. Sun. Work. Braai. Work. Bed. Work. Sun. Work. Bed.

Thrilling eh?

Have a good one my friends XXX

So it’s Sunday

I have a love-hate relationship with Sundays.

On the one hand, I relish the opportunity to be completely lazy, to be able to do absolutely bugger all for the day and not feel guilty about it. And I particularly welcome the silence of Sundays on the weekends that the kids are not here, like today. Normally, their music is blasting from each of their rooms and my ears can’t really handle the resulting chaotic mashups (my ears are ridiculously sensitive.) Neither can my head for that matter. Actually, it seriously stresses me out but I don’t say anything about it to them because I want them to be able to play their own tunes. I don’t want to be one of those nagging, whiney moms who are always saying “KEEP IT DOWN!”

But on the other hand, being alone at home on Sundays is so boring for me! I feel too damn lazy to do anything about it though. Gah. And then I get down because I’m feeling bored and lonely and unproductive … and so the deterioration begins …

I can’t remember a Sunday that didn’t turn pear-shaped! Seriously, some way or another, no matter what, Sundays ALWAYS find me becoming frustrated and stressed and depressed … from about this time in the afternoon onwards.

So I’m sitting here at home alone now. Until now, I’ve kept myself busy with housework (I’ve now completely cleaned up the lounge and dining room), not *daring* to really relax or sit down because then I know the loneliness will set in and I may just turn into a psycho bitch. Again.

I confuse myself. I *know* I’m an introvert and that being around people is extremely draining for me and yet, when I *am* alone like this I totally hate it. WTF? *sigh*

The kids will be back at about 5 this afternoon and for a change, I’d like to have a cool Sunday evening with them, one without drama or tension. I’m hoping that all their homework will have been done over the weekend, that there’s no last minute panic to get something sorted. That totally freaks me out!

I’m holding all digits for a chilled Sunday evening with good vibes.

What to do now? Hmmm … I’m going to HAVE to relax a bit now dammit – I’m pooped from all the cleaning, sorting and organising over the last 2 days. I’ve got 3 books I’m busy with, so I’ll probably just tuck into one of those to keep my mind busy until the kids get back. Or perhaps I’ll have a nap … dunno. Blegh.

Putting myself under pressure

Sometimes it’s the ONLY way I can Get Things Done, specifically stuff around the house!

So … by the end of the day, I’m going to have sorted out the dining room and organised the new office space.

And I shall post pictures.

There!

First post in my PJ’s

I have NO idea why I’m up this early on a Sunday!

Anyway, I guess it’s not a bad thing – I have quite a mission on my hands today, what with sorting out some new office space for Chris and Sir G to work with me here in the dining room. I’ve run out of space outside in the office now WAH!

So this morning, I have to somehow convert this part of my house into a working area:

I’ve already had new plug points installed and I’m waiting for Telkom to come and put in a new jack for one of my spare phone lines – that “should” be done next week.

Desk-wise, after hunting around for something simple and reasonably priced, I learned that there is No Such Thing so I’m going with white board on tressels. Sir G is going to help me put the laminated trim on the board today. I’ve also ordered some AWESOME chairs from Ergotherapy Solutions, but they are only being delivered at the end of November so we’re going to make do with a couple of budget secretary chairs till then.

It’s going to be REALLY strange for me to have other people working in such close proximity – I’m so used to working alone! I wonder what they’ll think of my rather animated work-style? I tend to talk to “the voices in my machine” (!), laugh out loud a bit and headbang to the tunes in my ear thumps hahaha!!

But this is all temporary … I have plans to renovate and extend the existing office area next year. That is going to be FANTASTIC! At the moment it’s a real dive way too small for the 8 of us. I’ve always wanted a swanky office space so I’m really looking forward to that 🙂

Anyhoo … I guess I’d better get my butt into gear. It’s another GORGEOUS day in Cape Town and I want to get all this done and dusted so I can chill outside by the pool this afternoon. Son#1 is away at an NA camp and Son#2 is off to a skate park, so I’ll have some very welcome (and unexpected) peace and quiet … and privacy for some *cough* private tanning …

Hope you’re all having a groovy weekend 😀

Noisy Hecticness

YEOWZA!! Work is *pumping* 😀

8 9 10 12 13 17 18 (now, as at 3.40pm on Tuesday) New clients this week already!!!  Holy Mother, we’ze going to need some serious energy to cope with this load ERK.

And besides the normal “stuffs”, I have a rather lekka project kicking off today, plus 2 more lined up for November, so things are going to be a bit crazy for a while …

STOKED!

The only bummer is that I have the roofing guys here today to start stripping my roof so it’s helluva noisy – every little grain of dust falling sounds like a damn boulder about to crash through my ceiling. It’s *somewhat* distracting, to say the least. I’m listening to some loud tunes to try and drown out the noise. (You can follow my musical activity here.)

[Actually, the last time they stripped tiles from my roof to repair a section, they DID put a hole through my ceiling! I really hope that doesn’t happen again … but I checked it out with them and they will assume 100% responsibility for that and cover all repair costs if there’s an accident like that.]

Yeah, I gotta hand it to Leith Roofing – they’ve really come to the party since my blog rant and I’m really pleased to see how they’re taking my negative experience seriously and turning it around into something that will ultimately provide them with a positive marketing spin, because I shall of course write about how things are going with them!

Sooner or later, all of us in business will encounter an unhappy customer and being able to listen to them and take appropriate steps to change their perception of your product or service is a great test of character and well worth the effort. Those “turned” customers normally go on to be your best word of mouth assets …

Anyways, that’s it for now … I need to go push some pixels … Laterz xxx
