I got this today from a very wise and special lady … Thank you M …
To put the sending of this poem into context, M is an artistic genius and an amazing teacher, plus she has known me just about my entire life and still takes an interest in me (and my boys), even if it is from a short distance away.
Said Lau Tsu, 2500 years ago:
Thirty spokes share the wheel’s hub
It is the centre hole that makes it useful.
Shape clay into a vessel.
It is the space within that makes it useful.
Cut doors and windows for a room.
It is the holes that make it useful.
Therefore profit comes from what is there
Usefulness from what is not there.
Now I just need to decrypt this and sprinkle it all over my life …
Mmk … decrypting this is not as easy as I thought it would be!
Does it mean I should be in the negative space and appreciate its usefulness?
OR
Should I get the hell out the negative space ‘cos me taking up room in there means it’s no longer useful?
Lau Tsu – DUDE! You’re confusing me!
