At the end of the day, you've surrounded yourself in people who when combined fulfill all the requirements and that's why we call it a "team".

I think the fact that "letting go" areas is difficult is because you're so passionate about it all and this mindset will take a lot of time to adjust to, but it will be so very worth it and with the energy saved, you'll be able to pour that into what you're best at doing, which is a lot of things, haha, so best start deciding ;)

Can't wait to rock things at work tomorrow, we've got a big week ahead, sjoe!

@JustBcoz - You really just need to understand the concepts of as many things work related as you can and specialize yourself into the areas that you are really good at. Nobody but nobody can be all things to all men. So long as you have faith and trust in those that work with and for you, you will be fine. Maybe you need to let go a little bit?

Of course, you're 100% correct Gino - no one knows everything ... and gosh, your comment about serving one's niche market with passion has really struck a chord with me! Thank you :-)

I need to regain my focus and concentrate on what I do well rather than try to do everything (some of which isn't even relevant!) and thus setting myself up for failure.

Perhaps that's one of the obstacles one has to overcome when you transition from a solo operation to sharing responsibility with a team. It's tough to break out of the habit of wanting to know every single detail, of feeling the need to know all the ins and outs of every available technology and tool out there ... I have really wonderful people on this journey with me and I need to let more control shift into their hands.

Although I've always had a private policy of never asking any of my staff to do anything that I wasn't willing and able to tackle myself, I have to be honest and admit that I'm never going to be able to do everything myself. Not anymore.

Wow, that's tough to admit.

Not that that will stop me from learning more - I do owe it to myself and to my business to keep on learning. Every day.

Cath is so right.

No one knows everything. And this is true not just for the Web - it's across all industries. Success is for those who are able to identify their strengths and finding their niche market, and serving same with passion. Focus on learning how to serve the needs of your market, delivering comparable results - and better results over time - than your competitors, and being brave enough to ask questions, then you're sorted for a very succesful career.

Here's to your success!
